HPD investigating after body found in sinkhole in Kalaeloa

Honolulu police are looking into what they're calling an unattended death in Kalaeloa. police have so far said they don't suspect foul play. At about 8:20 last night, a woman called police because she found a possible human body in a sinkhole at Coral Sea Road and San Juacinto Street. Police could not immediately identify it as a body as it was wrapped in a blanket or cloth and too hard to get.

KAPOLEI, Hawaii (KITV4) -- Honolulu Police are investigating after a human body found in a sinkhole in Kalaeloa on Saturday.

HPD responded to a call to Coral Sea Road and San Juacinto Street on Saturday night after reports of a body. Police could not immediately identify it as a body because it was wrapped in a blanket or cloth.

The Honolulu Fire Department recovered the body Sunday morning.

HPD is investigating the case as an unattended death and they do not suspect foul play at this time.

No information about the deceased has been released, including a possible gender or age. Investigators have not said how long they believe the body had been in the hole.
