This weekend, Texas Folklife celebrates 34 years of Texas Squeezebox at Miller Outdoor Theatre and Typhoon Texas Waterpark will reward academic success with free and discounted admission on selected dates.

A variety of accordion-fronted bands will perform at the annual event at Miller Outdoor Theatre, including Cedric Watson & Bijou Creole, Grupo Imagen, Alex Meixner Band, and the winners of Texas Folklife's 2023 Statewide Big Squeeze Youth Accordion Contest.

Miller Outdoor Theatre presents The Legend of the Lunar Festival.

The Legend of the Lunar Festival is a performance based on Chinese New Year myths, featuring 30 dancers from Dance of Asian America.

Attendees, some dressed as anime characters, walk the booths during the KimoKawaii Anime Con held at the Lone Star Convention Center in Conroe, TX.

After debuting in Conroe last June, the anime convention KimoKawaii is returning to for a second year this weekend. The event offers immersive experiences featuring anime themes, content creation stations, professional voice acting opportunities and cosplay contests. Celebrity guests include Bob Bergen, the voice of No Face in "Spirited Away" as well as Porky Pig, Tweety Bird and Marvin the Martian.

Typhoon Texas Waterpark is rewarding academic success with free and discounted entry. Any student who earned three A's or more for the 2022-23 academic school year will get free admission to the park through June 2. Anyone accompanying the scholar will have a discounted admission of $19.99, down from the standard $39.99 ticket price. Also new this year is the park's Typhoon Junior, a special park for children under 54 inches tall.

Music lovers will get the chance to listen to the best local and regional bands at Kemah Boardwalk's annual Rock the Dock concert series this summer.

The family-friendly summer series at Kemah Boardwalk, showcases local and regional bands. Velcro Pygmies will perform June 1 and Lucky Finger June 8.
