Hillsborough County recently hosted its second annual "It Takes a Village Community Baby Shower." The event was organized by the Parks & Recreation department to benefit local expectant moms. Months prior to the baby shower, the department collected donated baby items such as diapers, diaper bags, baby thermometers, pacifiers, receiving blankets, baby clothes, and more.

Over 30 families registered and received baby items. At the baby shower, speakers shared resources available to assist families in need, as well as provided information on healthy pregnancies and babies.

Hillsborough County Parks & Recreation annually hosts the event in the hopes of alleviating some of the financial burden felt by parents in need. The event continues to grow every year.

"It Takes a Village Community Baby Shower" was held April 15 at the University Area Community Complex at 14013 N. 22nd St., Tampa, FL 33613.
