Book launch planned today

WESTFIELD — A book launch party for "Braided Lies A Thousand Islands Castle Mystery" will take place at 7 p.m. today in the Lake Shore Center for the Arts at 48 S. Portage St. Author Catherine D’Agostino of Fredonia will be at the event and will be signing books.

Library sets reading events at park

Read with Darwin R. Barker Library in Barker Common. Bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket and a book and come to the Common on the following dates: Tuesday, June 13 from 4 to 6 p.m.; Wednesday, June 28 from noon to 2 p.m.; Saturday, July 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Tuesday, July 18 from 4 to 6 p.m.; Wednesday, Aug. 2 from noon to 2 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Wednesday, Aug.16 from noon to 2 p.m. All children must be supervised.

Ukulele group plays Saturday

Fredonia Ukulele will be Saturday, June 10, at Domus Fare Restaurant, 41 W. Main St., from 6 to 8 p.m. Play immediately — all ability levels. No experience necessary.

The goal is to have fun and to make music. Ukuleles provided or bring your own. Play, sing, or just enjoy listening. Come and go as you please.

Club planning can drive

BROCTON — The Brocton High School Rotary Interact Club will be having a Bottle and Can Drive on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Brocton Central School Bus Garage. Proceeds from the event will be used to support the Interact Clubs annual International Project.

Farm market part of non-profits

It looks like another beautiful Saturday in the park this week for the Fredonia Farmers’ Market. The region really needs the rain for all of our growing things, but maybe not on Saturdays?

Today is the annual Give Big CHQ online event. Sponsored by the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation and the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation, this event invites donations to more than 125 nonprofit organizations, including our Fredonia Farmers’ Market. Local family vendors offer the best in meats, eggs, fresh seasonal veggies & fruits, baked goods (traditional, gluten-free, & keto), maple products, mushrooms, local raw honey, herbal products & soaps, pure beeswax candles, ready-to-eat dishes from around the world, & artisan craft goods.

Vendors gladly accept cash, credit cards, & SNAP benefits and the location is handicapped accessible.

National Grid Retirees luncheon planned

The National Grid Retirees luncheon will be Tuesday, June 13 at noon at the Point Restaurant, 296 Lake Shore Drive West, Dunkirk. Reservations are required. Contact Dorothy Lawrence at 716-672-2682 for reservations or information.
